Lip service? Yes please!

I literally squealed with delight and clapped my hands when I heard about Lip Service. It was sometime last year when rumours first surfaced that a series had been commissioned for BBC3 about british lesbians. "Something to fill the L Word shaped hole in your lives" was promised.
Amen! Our prayers to Saint Ellen, The patron saint of Gay Girl TV, had been answered.
An L Word shaped hole is a lot to fill (not like that don't be filthy) so the big question is will it deliver?
Well it's been filmed. BBC have released a teaser for it and all I can say is. HELLO NURSE!
Check it out here:

First impression? Personally, the first girl Tess who's complaining about not knowing how to chat girls up struck a 'Oh she could get slightly irritating' chord. The blonde Shane wannabe could have potential if she doesn't try too hard to be cool. But I've taken an immediate fancy to the "moose" who turns up for the date at the very end. Turns out her character's name is Sam and upon further investigation I've found her real name is Heather Pace. Truth be told I have a very STRONG suspicion she's a lady who likes ladies in real life. My gaydar's pretty good. I'll let you know if I find any further evidence other than my tried and tested "She's got the gay jaw (aka Jane Hill, Jane Lynch and yours truly )" to support this theory.
I'm also loving Laura Fraser, the Glaswegian on the phone, she has great comedy potential, the type of character you'd love as your best friend. Whether or not you'd end up sleeping with said best friend remains to be seen of course.
In light of all this however, and if my opinions of the L Word characters were anything to go by, I'll have a new favourite every 3 episodes depending on the storyline.
So if we were playing shoot, snog, marry...
Shoot hippy Tessa
Snog spiky blonde Frankie
Marry Sam aka the "moose" who come to think of it reminds me a bit of Anna Nolan the lesbian nun off Big Brother Series 1, nostalgia inspired crush perhaps?
Either way, bring it on. Will keep you posted when I have exact screening times to hand.
Laters Gayters,
