To boldly go
26 July 2010 09:55
You know how sometimes the weekend just flashes by and it seems that as you leave work on a Friday evening it feels like you've just blinked and your back at your desk on a Monday morning? Well that's how today seems to me although I'm sitting at a different desk as we've had a bit of an office switch round which had made me all the more confused.
I DJed at Tonker on Friday evening in Vauxhall and although I was doing the early set the place was soon full of sexy hunky men cruising and boozing for me to peruse. When I say the place was full what I really mean is that the lovely beer garden was full with folk only dashing in to listen to my tunes as they bought more drinks, damn the summer!
I had it in mind to go out afterwards, as I was due to finish at midnight, but as the evening went on I realised that I was in fact quite knackered from my week's work and it only took my flatmate Nick to suggest we should head home as he too was not in the mood to carry on to convince me that a night on the tiles was probably a bad idea.
I resolved to try not to leave the house on Saturday as I really needed a day of rest so when Nick suggested he would go to the chippy to get some very naughty food so that I wouldn't even have to vacate my 'Homer dent' on the sofa I jumped at the chance, well I say jumped I mean I just sat there and agreed.
I spent the evening channel surfing and so managed to actually miss some of the shows I wanted to watch which is surprising as there doesn't seem to be much on that catches my eye at the moment. I remember when I was young my mum would complain that there was a couple of repeats on during any given evening and now it's remarkable if there are any new shows on at all.
I ended up glued to Star Trek IV The Undiscovered Country which although very dated does have a decent story line and I love to watch the original crew, some of whom are stuffed very firmly into girdles with slightly unconvincing hair pieces, in action.
Sunday was spent as ever at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern working but this week we had a fairly large hen party in which to my knowledge was a first. I have to say some of the regulars where a little perplexed by this but it tuned out that the bride to be was a niece of the D E Experience and knew the drill very well indeed.
I've got a couple of days off work this week which is very welcome indeed as I haven't had a break since March. I'm going to get out of London with my best mate Matt and go down to Hampshire to see my parents and breath in some country air.
Matt and I will be attending the new Forest And Hampshire County Show on Thursday which will be an eye opener specially if we bump into any of those hunky young farmers! We're also supposed to be going sailing on the Solent on Saturday so lets hope the weather holds up. If we make it through this great farming and boating few days I'll shall report back next week on our exciting adventures.
